Chemical composition, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties and weldability of the grades we supply, laid out so you can pick the right one without guessing.
Find equivalents →Crystal structure decides more than any other number: whether the material is magnetic, whether it hardens, and how well it forms and welds.
Non-magnetic when annealed, highly formable and easy to weld. They don't harden by heat treatment but work-harden when cold worked. The most widely used family.
Magnetic and nickel-free, so cheaper. Good corrosion resistance indoors, but more limited formability and weldability. Not hardenable.
Magnetic and hardenable by heat treatment to very high hardness. Lower corrosion resistance; used for cutlery, valves and shafts.
A mix of austenite and ferrite: about twice the strength of 304 and very high resistance to chlorides and stress corrosion cracking.

Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation are the ASTM A240 minimums for annealed material; a dash means the value depends on product form or supply condition. PREN and the corrosion level are indicative.
A starting point by application. For special conditions (temperature, chemicals, load) ask us and we'll confirm with you.
Tell us the application, environment and required standard, and we'll recommend a grade supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
The data is for guidance and does not replace the heat certificate. The binding values are those of the standard and the manufacturer's certificate.
